An Exploratory Study on the Role of Intangible Resources for the Competitiveness of Container Ports

Port competitiveness has become one of the most widely debated topics as port capability has recently become an important issue to the national economy. Specifically, Chinese port development and great growth rates are threatening ports in Korea, which are striving to become a hub of port traffic in Northeast Asia. In this point of view， great attention has been shown to the question of port competitiveness in Korea. Also, for the most part， recent critical debates about port competitiveness have tended to center around the question of the determinants of port selection or, port efficiency. However, port competitiveness based on the Resource-Based View has not, so far, been examined, nor been studied in detail. The approach in this paper aims to suggest strategic schemes on port competitiveness using the Resource-Based View. To achieve this aim of research， various literature related to port competitiveness elements and intangible resources were reviewed
