플라톤 후기철학에 대한 성인 교육적 고찰

An Analysis of Techne in Plato's Adult Education

본 논문은 플라톤 후기철학에 등장하는 요소들을 바탕으로 플라톤의 성인교육론을 정립해보고자 하는 시도이다. 플라톤 후기 저작에 등장하는 테크네(technē)는 오늘날 기술(technology)의 어원이 되는 단어로서 성인교육의 발달과 매우 깊은 관련을 맺고 있다. 본 논문에서는 티마이오스와 법률에 등장하는 테크네와 테크네의 주체인 장인(dēmiourgous)을 분석하였으며, 테크네와 장인이 지향하는 궁극적인 목표는 장인이 테크네와 인간에 대한 지식(epistēmē)을 터득하도록 하는데 있다고 본다. 이는 성인교육을 단순히 숙련공의 기술 터득이 아닌 완전하고 생산적인 삶을 영위하는 방법을 가르쳐주는 입장으로 간주하는 버거빈의 견해와 일치하게 된다. 플라톤의 성인교육론은 훌륭한 삶을 살도록 하는데 목적이 있으며, 영혼의 성장을 위해 절제를 핵심 내용으로 하고 있다. 방법적인 측면에서는 상기설과 변증법이 성인학습자의 특성을 감안하여 사용될 수 있다.

The purpose of this study is to gain some suggestions for improvement adult and continuing educational philosophy from the analysis on Plato's later works. The philosophy of Plato has many implication by clarify the meaning of techne, which is the origin of the term 'technology', and Demiourgous, which is the role model of the craft people. By doing this study, we can build the study of Plato's Adult Education. The philosophical foundations and educational implication of Plato's Adult Education are as follows 1) The meaning of ‘techne’ is to build the new object by using the material in nature. 'New object' should be a real object in the world, not image. 2) Demiourgos is the subject that using the 'techne' as skills. It is the creator of the Cosmos. It is the role model for the craft people and It always looks for the Idea of Good. 3) The meaning of techne should be understand in the community where producing and exchanging the commodities. The citizen in the polis do his own role both as a craftman and as a political citizen. When the citizen do his own role correctly, he is a good person. It is the meaning of the episteme. 4) Plato is the first well-known philosopher which emphasize the meaning of the Recollection(anamnesis) and Dialectics, which are the educational method for the adult people.
