만 5세 파랑반의 동극 활동 개선을 위한 실행연구

An Action Research on Drama Activities in a 5-year-old Classroom at Donghwa Kindergarten

본 연구는 동화유치원 파랑반의 담임교사인 본 연구자가 학급에서 이루어지는 동극 활동의 개선에 관심을 갖고 수행한 실행연구이다. 동극 활동의 문제점을 파악하고 이를 개선하기 위한 과정에서 나타나는 유아들의 변화 과정을 분석하여 교수-학습 방법을 향상시키는데 본 연구의 목적이 있다. 본 연구는 인천광역시 A구에 위치한 동화유치원 만 5세 파랑반에서 이루어졌으며, 연구 참여자는 파랑반 유아 30명이다. 구체적인 문제 파악을 위한 1회의 동극 활동을 한 후 문제 상황을 개선하기 위한 6회의 동극활동을 진행하였다. 자료 수집은 참여관찰, 사진과 비디오 촬영, 심층 면담, 저널쓰기를 통해 이루어졌다. 수집된 자료는 유형별로 나누어 해석하고, 이를 범주화하여 분석하였다. 초기 1회의 동극활동을 통해서 드러난 문제점을 개선하기 위해서 유아들이 극작가, 스텝, 배우, 관객의 역할을 담당하도록 하는 역할 분담의 과정을 거쳤고, 동화를 다양한 방법으로 경험하도록 통합 활동에 참여하는 기회를 제공하였다. 이후 6회의 동극 활동이 진행되면서 유아들은 다양한 역할을 맡게 되었으며, 각 역할에 보다 적극적으로 참여하면 변화되어가는 모습을 보여주었다.

This action research aims at improving drama activities of a 5-year-old classroom at Donghwa Kindergarten. This research purports to find out the problems of the children's drama activities, to analyze any changes of the children occurring in the process. Based on the research goals, the following research questions are asked: 1. What are the problems of drama activities at the 5-year-old classroom? 2. What are the changes of the children participating in drama activities? This research was conducted in Parang Class consisting of 30 5-year-old children at Donghwa Kindergarten from March 14, 2008 to July 15, 2008. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, photographing and video filming, and writing journals. This research interpreted the collected data by type, categorized them, and then, analyzed. The initial drama activity was used to find out problems of the drama activities at this classroom, and 6 drama activities were followed with plans to counteract the problems. After the initial drama activity, the teacher proposed 4 different roles including actor, staff, writer, and audience. In the following drama activities, children took part in all these 4 roles and more actively performed these roles.
