미술교육의 사회적 가치와 실천 역량

Exploring practical competences to promote social values of visual arts education

미술교육의 내재적인 가치만을 앞세우는 것만으로 미술교육을 옹호하기 어렵다는 것은 거듭되는 교육과정 개편과정에서 미술교육계가 번번히 경험하고 있다. 미술교육의 옹호를 위해 지나치게 사회경제적 유용성에 중점을 두는 것은 경계해야 할 부분이지만 예술교육 또한 사회의 테두리 안에서 이루어지는 사회적 활동이기에 그 사회적 가치를 부각시키는 것은 미술교육의 옹호 및 실천을 위한 핵심전략으로 간주될 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 미술교육이 학교의 벽을 넘어 평생학습체제에 적극 대처함과 동시에 보편적 현상으로서의 세계화가 요구하는 글로벌 시민성 육성에 기여하는 것이 미 술교육의 사회적 가치를 보다 강조하고 확산시키는 길임을 밝히고자 하였다. 그리고 학교 및 지역사회의 미술교육 주체들이 이를 실천해 나가기 위해 필요한 핵심역량으로서의 문화역량에 대해서도 그 구성요소와 상호관계를 제시하였다.

The community of visual arts education(VAE) has experienced that it seemed very hard to advocate the VAE with it's own inherent values. Even though we should not overemphasize the socio-economic efficacy of VAE, it is still necessary that we focus on it's social values to advocate and reenforce the VAE. That's because VAE is not only a subject of school education, but also a kind of social activity which takes place in social arena. This study showed the strategies to promote and spread the social values of VAE as follows: (1) VAE has to respond actively to today's continuing learning system, as well as school education. (2) Global citizenship education must be embeded in the practices of VAE. And this study explored practical(cultural) competences needed for the actors to perform the practices of VAE in the desirable direction, and presented the components of cultural competences and those relationships.
