The Meaning of the Philosophy of Lee T`oegye Illuminated by Modern Viewpoint

This thesis tries to throw light on the following points (numberd from 1 to 6) scrutinized in the philosophy of Lee T`oegye, viewed from the standpoint of its modernization: (1) moral improvement and personalism, realized in the Theory of Returning to the True Mind of Mankind and Keeping it in Every Doings of Daily Life(存養省察論). (2) moralism, getting nearer to the intrinsic value, and idealism, realized in the Theory of Human Nature. (3) idealistic-realistic humanism and mentalism, realized 111 the Ontology, (4) governing ~vith virtue, humanitarianism and reasonable polities, realized in the Political Theory, (5) behaviorism and practical ism, realized m the Theory of Truth (6) deciding the fate with one`s own effort, realized in the Epistemology.
