Free from the grasp of the old imperialism, Korea was newly born as a sovereign country, even though it was divided into two parts. To Korean people, delight from liberation was beyond description. Also, they got a tremendous belief that since the incident, their national history would be developed in bright, positive ways. But in fact, the liberation became the point from which the ideology of the following national division started. Behind this situation, there was a certain dynamic relationship with the American Military Government stationed in Korea. In the period of the military government, social imaginations were being developed by assuming social symbolic orders in which nation, class and group were considered most primary elements. Under this circumstance, poetic subjects were called upon to become members of such group. This resulted in ignoring internal differences between poetic subjects who in turn became full of a natural consciousness that their own imaginative power should be put into symbolic orders. Any symbolic structure always generate injustice that is forced to subjects. In other words, such symbolic structure inherently has a tendency of reducing diverse internal differences between subjects into one. However, Lacan's theory becomes the basis on which such injustice as foresaid can be effectively overcome. From the theory, a hypothesis that differences between individual subjects are not disappeared, but remain effective was obtained. In other words, it is obtained by avoiding the bottom of so-called the graph of desire, but focusing on the top of the graph, that is, enunciation. In addition, what symbolic orders are could be determined through both symbolic and imaginative identification. At last, separation from the others is made. This is the way leftist poets who lived in the period of the American Military Government responded to desires they pursued. To identify individual poetic subjects with social symptoms, which are expressed in form of confession, allow the subjects' voices to be detected. Writing poems is a process that the poet reveals his or her own internal speech. It is also a process that the poet identifies his or her self with others' language. Furthermore, it is a process that the poet collides with others' language and eventually builds up his or her own private language. Even if they were just personal speech in form, voices from individual poetic subjects in the period of the American Military Government allow us to diversely consider and understand the poetic literature of that period. Meantime, symbolic orders as mentioned above may be still diverse in form, so it is truly important to analyze them.
