The Effects of Cycling Facilities on Residential Environment and Residents' Cognition - The Case of Changwon Velodrorne and Geurnjeong Velodrorne -

1.CONTENTS (1) RESEARCH OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of cycle racing on residential environment and the residents' cognition through the case study of Geumjeong velodrome m Busan and Changwon velodrome in Kyungsangnamdo (2) RESEARCH METHOD This study conducts a survey on residents in Geumjeong-gu and Changwon City. T test has bæn adopted as the methodology for this study (3) RESEARCH FINDINGS The cycling facilities have generally negative impact on residential environment which is below average. But Geurnjeong velodrome is evaluated above average and has better effects comparing to Changwon velodrome. Also, positive and negative effects of the cycling facilities show similar result in Geurnjeong-gu and Changwon City 2. RESULTS Residents in both recognized ‘increasing the opportunity for leisure time' and ‘revitalizing the local economy’ as the positive effects of cycling facilities. And the items to denote unhealthy gambling, traffic congestion, bad influence on educational environment revealed the negative effects of cycling facilities. Most analysis has shown that especially Changwon' residents had negative attitude and low evaluation about cycling facilities
