This is critical reading ability what students who are in this age of information need , but school education fails out how to approach Critical Reading. This study was attempted to determine the effect of the reading instruction of television text on improving of critical reading ability of elementary students. To do this I have developed the television text reading program of the method for critical reading that is applying the real class The research questions were posed as below: 1. Does a reading instruction of television text have any effects on improving critical reading ability? 2. Does a reading instruction of television text have any effects on critical reading sub-elements? 3. Does a reading instruction of television text have any effects on critical thinking disposition To address the research questions at the Chapter II. I have arranged the concepts of critical reading and the component through discussions of several scholars. At the same time. I have examined the sub-elements of it which have been presented in the seventh national curriculum of elementary school ‘ Next. I have examined educative special quality television medium experience and the directions of the television text education At the Chapter III and N. I have developed the teaching - learning strategy and the program for improving critical reading ability. The text are news text. advertisement text. comedy program text. and discussion program text what are assortmented among the television midium text ext , I have applied by using the television text reading program prepared. The object of this study includes 58 students. (i n this study were 58 students. in two sixth-year classes of an elementary school in Haeundae -gu. Busan. The two classes were respectively selected as an experimental group and a control group. After previous inspection and after inspection. I have analyzed the result using SPSS statistics program. The experiment was conducted only in the experimental group in 10 sessions At the Chapter V I have analyzed the collected data by 'T-test. gave an explanation about the results , and made same suggestions The findings of this study were as follows First. the experimental group that was taken reading instruction of television text made a meaningful progress in critical reading ability than control group that wasn't. Besides the effects of the reading instruction of television text according to the student’ s ability has nat shown a apparent difference on students group of differential abilities In other words. reading instruction of television text is effective to improve all group' s critical reading ability regardless of students' level Second, the reading instruction of television text was effective for critical reading sub-elements. though there were some differences. Finally‘ the reading instruction of television text was effective cultivating of critical thinking disposition. It could be concluded that the reading instruction of television text had a positive impact on improving of critical reading ability. and will be very useful to instruction of critical reading in elementary school. Future research efforts need to prepare more appropriate tasks , arrange what to teach, and carefully consider in which way critical reading education should be provided in light of elementary schooler critical thinking disposition and reading ability.
