Phenomena recognized by human's five senses have limitations for him to understand the existence and its essence of an object. Phenomena don't reflect the essence of the existence and it is sometimes fabricated by someone that the truth can be concealed. There are many korean transforming folk tales in which animals disguise themselves as human bodies and cheat humans. Especially, in the tale of a rat in human shape, the fake 'I' appears and threats human's identity. Human who judges the values as external phenomena can't become aware of the disguised animal. The situation in question of the tale happens here. In the ironic situation in which the fake one is acknowledged as a real one, narrative shows couples of binomial opposition over existential and recognitive problems. And it is noticeable that the accidents of the tale are happened as contagious magic caused by errors of human recognition and they are solved as imitative magic. This makes the supposition possible that humans assume the absolute essence and existence and they think of them as more valuable than phenomena and recognition. Finally, the tale of a rat in human shape evokes various ironies in the situation of the conflict between phenomena and essence or the separative phenomena, and it shows the limitations of human recognition exploring the essence and existence of the object through recognizing the phenomena.
