Evaluation of improvement of barrier function and usability on the Moisturizer containing Wood-vinegar

The wood vinegar gives special remedies for skin. Acetic acid included in the wood vinegar softens keratin of the skin , making solution easier to penetrate into the skin. Its alcohol disinfects and carbon particles prevent skin cells age. By theses effects, we could use wood vinegar for athlete’s foo t, atopic dermatitis, xerotic eczema, etc. For this study, we made hydrogel type solution contained 0.5%, 1%, and 3% of the wood vinegar, and we applied these solution on the volunteer ’s fo rearm each and we estimated transepidermal water loss(TEWL) and moisture effect in normal skin condition and damaged skin condition. The solution containing 0.5% of the wood vinegar bas been found to have more moisture effect than normal moisturizer type. TEWL was decreased and moisture grew with good absorption and maintenance, because of the wood vinegar. Second, by comparing moisturizers containing O.5g of the wood vinegar and moisturizer lotions sold in the market, moisturization over the period of 3weeks and transepidermal water loss have been checked. There was similar increase in moisturization as time went by. Third, moisturizers containing the wood vinegar were estimated excellent in sensory evaluation
