A Study on Non-compliance with Regulation in the Green Belt Area

1. CONTENTS (1) RESEARCH OBJECTIVES This study aims at analyzing non-compliance of land use regulation, especially in restricted development zone(so-called Green Belt Area). (2) RESEARCH METHOD Ths study applied linear multiple regression. The data used here is based on 2137 questionaries collected from residents in Green Belt area. (3) RESEARCH FINDINGS The results show that a regional variable, whether people live In metropolitan area or not, has mainly affected non-compliance to land use regulation. 2. RESULTS People living in the metropolitan area show higher tendency to commit illegal acts than people living in non-metropolitan area according to the result of multiple regression analysis. In addition, the weaker the execution power, the higher the influencies of non-compliance behavior. When it comes to demographic variables, age and the years residents spent in Green Belt tum out to be the most influential variables. However, we cannot find any significant correlations between other independent variables such as lack of understanding (knowledge) Green Belt system and illegal acts in metropolitan area.
