Conserving the Historical Environment of the Uiryeong Eupchi in the Chosun Dynasty

The purpose of this study is to better understand the historical environment of Uiryeong town, a provincial capital which has been treated lightly. The results are as follows: Feng Shui. The Topography Interpretation and Space Remodeling at Uiryeong Eupchi were examined from the viewpoint of feng shui. This perspective helps in the discovery of the historical environmental factors in the Uiryeong town. An example is the bamboo grove statue, Paulownia, which was built according to feng shui. With this, it is highly recommended that feng shui be considered in preserving and reproducing the landscape of Uiryeong town. Urban regeneration. This plays an important role in understanding the problem of the town. Althoughthe greater part of Uiryeong Eupseong has already been destroyed, there are many reasons to push for its restoration. First, there is a need for such act to conserve the cultural assets of the place. Second, this will provide the residents an experience of historical environment that they can treasure for a lifetime. Lastly, the restoration can give the residents many value-added opportunities. Examining the concrete scale and the build the Uiryeong Eupsung include these items – form, location, space composition of an altar to the State deities(Sagikdan), Seonghwangsa Shrine, and the Confucian shrine to facilitate worship ceremonies, the Yeodan Altar. It is necessary to regenerate the landscape that had consisted of Uiryeong Eupchi in the Chosun Dynasty under the recognition of historical environment. Although uiryeong town doesn't have historical remains like the existing facilities of government office or worship ceremonies, the restoration case of Dong-heon in An-dong City, and the altar to the State deities(Sagikdan) in Dae-gu City will highly depend on the will of Uiryeong-gun.
