초등학교 영어 몰입식 실과 교육 모형 개발 및 적용 연구

This study illustrates a case of English immersion program for practical art in an elementary school and attempts to figure out the applicability of the subject for immersion education. The subjects were seventy-nine sixth-grade students at an elementary school in Gyeonggi-do. A half of the students belonged to the experimental group and the other half to the control group. In the practical art classes the English immersion program was applied to the experimental group, while Korean was used in the control group. Written tests, questionnaires, teaching journals, and learning Jogs were employed to investigate the immersion program. The findings revealed that the immersion program worked positively for students' English acquisition and it did not work negatively for learning the contents of practical art. In addition, in tenms of affective factors of the interest, confidence, and participation of learning English between differentiated groups, the immersion through practical art had positive effects on all of them. Based on the findings some suggestions are made for the implementation of immersion education in Korean public elementary schools.
