Reading Classes Through News Articles and Novels

본 논문은 학습자의 유창한 독해력을 길러 주기 위한 학습자에 맞는텍스트 선정 및 읽기 지도 방안에 관한 것과 뉴스 기사와 소설을 통한한국어 읽기의 실제 수업 사례에서 나타난 학습자들의 반응과 효과에 관한 것이다. 읽기 수업은 정보의 획득과 문화의 수용이라는 측면에서 볼때 중요하게 다루어져야 한다. 한국어 읽기 교육은 독해력을 신장시키는데에 궁극적인 목표를 두어야 한다. 독해력의 핵심 요소는 읽기 속도와이해의 정도라고 볼 수 있다. 이것은 학습자의 읽기 활동을 통해 나타나는 일련의 과정들과 관련되어 있으며 이에 따라 실제적인 읽기 교육의방안을 적용해야 한다. 또한 적절한 읽기 텍스트를 선택하는 것은 매우중요하다. 적절한 텍스트의 선정은 학습자의 흥미를 유발할 수 있을 뿐만아니라 학습 후 큰 만족감을 줄 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 7개의 실제 수업사례를 제시하여 학습자들의 반응과 효과를 살펴보고 읽기 수업의 텍스트와 방식이 다양화 되어야 할 필요성을 제기하였다. 이상의 논의를 통해읽기 수업이 현실적으로 필요한 정보와 독서의 즐거움을 주는 효과적이고 유익한 활동으로 발전하기를 기대한다.

This is a study about how to select texts and how to teach fluent reading guide skills to Korean language learners. It shows sever al examples of the students' reactions when they have reading clas ses taught through news articles and novels. The composition of th is article is as follows: Chapter I discusses the aquisition of information and acceptance of culture. The value of reading is also emphasized. In chapter II, reading education and practical teaching method for reading are summarized. In chapter III, the study introduces adequate text forms for each level and described advantages and disadvantages of using news articles and novels as a text. Chapter IV, shows seven examples of reading lessons and analyzes them based on how the students reacted it and what effect happened. Chapter V, emphasizesreading as a selective activity of understanding and mentions the necessity of diverse reading lessons. As stated above, it is vital to create reading activities which are effective and useful to learners so that they can absorb as much information as possible when they are reading.
