IRT summed-score linking to achieve comparability between observed test scores

문항반응이론을 적용하여 피험자의 능력 모수를 추정할 때 총점-기반 EAP가 사용된다면 2모수나 3모수 모형이 사용될 때에도 검사 총점과 능력 추정치는 일대일 대응 관계를 갖게 된다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 속성을 이용하여 두 다른 검사의 관찰점수간 비교를 가능하게 해줄 수 있는 하나의 방법인 IRT 총점 연계 기법을 소개하였고 기존에 알려진적용 절차를 보다 정교화하기 위하여 여러 보간법을 고려하였다. 두 개의 실제 자료에 대하여 이러한 방법들을 적용해 보았으며 또한 그 결과를 전통적인 문항반응이론의 검사동등화 방법들이 산출한 값들과 비교해 보았다. 이러한 비교는 세 개의 손실 지수, 총점연계 패턴, 동등화 표준오차 등을 근거하여 이루어졌다. 이 연구에서 소개된 기법은 관찰점수간 비교가능성을 획득함에 있어서 기존의 IRT 동등화 방법에 뒤지지 않는 수행을 보여 주었으며 IRT 진점수 동등화보다는 IRT 관찰점수 동등화 방법의 결과에 더 유사한 총점 연계 결과를 산출하는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 이 기법을 보다 심도 있게 이해하기위해서는 획득된 비교가능성의 의미를 보다 명확하게 이해하기 위한 여러 종류의 추가적연구가 필요할 것으로 보인다.

If the summed-score EAP is used for the purpose of scoring, it enables us to get one-to-one relationship between observed scores and theta estimates even in the use of 2- or 3-parameter models. In this study, a technique using the summed-score EAP is introduced, which is expected to provide approximate comparability between observed test scores from two different test forms. The introduced method was illustrated with two real data sets after being elaborated from the original procedure by adopting various interpolation skills. The linking results were compared to those of traditional IRT true score and IRT observed score equating methods. To compare the performance of the three methods, (1) three loss indices, (2) the conversion relationships between new form scores and their linking equivalents on the old form scale, and (3) the bootstrap standard errors of equating were calculated and provided. Based upon the results, the introduced method appeared to produce similar comparability to those of the traditional IRT methods. The summed-score linking results of the alternative method were more similar to those of the IRT observed score equating than those of the IRT true score equating. To further understand the method, however, various future studies need to be additionally performed to clarify the meaning of comparability achieved by the introduced method.
