다문화 교육프로그램이 유아의 국가정체성 및 인종에 대한 태도에 미치는 효과

The Effects of a Multicultural Education Program on National Identity and Attitudes toward Races of Young Children

본 연구의 목적은 다문화 교육프로그램이 유아의 국가정체성 및 인종에 대한 태도에 미치는 효과를 살펴보기 위함이다. 이를 위하여 서울시에 소재하고 있는 A유치원의 7세반 유아를 연구대상으로 하여 사회 경제적 배경이 비슷한 2개 학급을 선정한 후 실험집단과 비교집단으로 배정하고, 두 집단에게사전검사를 실시한 후 실험집단에는 다문화 교육프로그램을 처치하였다. 또한 처치기간이 끝난 후 사후검사를 실시하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 다문화 교육프로그램은 국가정체성의 전체점수와 하위 영역 중 국가상징에서만 유의한차이가 있었다. 둘째, 다문화 교육프로그램은 인종에 대한 태도에 부분적으로 변화가 있었다. 본 연구는 기존의 유아교육과정에 적용할 수 있는 다문화교육프로그램을 적용하고 그 효과를 검증했다는 점에 의의가 있다.

The purpose of this study was to develop an multicultural education program that can be applied in multicultural education, suitable for young children. This programs were then investigated in terms of their effect upon young children's national identity and attitudes toward races. Children of seven years of age enrolled in "A" Kindergarten, two classes with similar characteristics were selected as subjects. Twenty students were in the multicultural education program group and 20 were in the controlled group. After a pretest was conducted, the multicultural education program was treated on the experimental group for six weeks, while a general curriculum for young children was conducted for the controlled group. A posttest was conducted after treatment period. The results of this study are as follow. First, significant differences were found between the results about children’s recognition of national identity and national symbols. Second, the multicultural education program showed partially positive effects on improvement of the children’s attitudes toward races. It was significant that an multicultural education program, which can be applied in the previous curriculum for young children, have been developed and the effects of the program have been verified
