An Extended Data Envelopment Analysis Model: Supplier Evaluation in Supply Chain Network

본 연구는 공급사슬네트워크에서 공급자 선택의 중요성, 공급자 선택을 위한 다양한 방법론들, 그리고 공급자 선택을 위한 평가항목들을 기술한 후, 공급자 선택을 위한 방법론들 중 효율성 측면에서 공급자를 평가하고 선택하는 접근방법인DEA 모형을 수정하고 확장한다. 기존 DEA의 확장 모형들을 중심으로 DEA 모형에 대하여 논의하고, 이에 따른 DEA 의 기본 모형과 교차효율성모형(Cross-efficiency Model) 및 초효율성모형(Super-efficiency Model)과 같은 DEA의 확장 모형들에 대한 각각의 장점 및 단점을 분석함으로써, 이들 DEA의 기존 모형들이 공급자의 효율성을 평가하는 과정에서 제기되는 문제로서의 낮은 판별력, 계산비효율성, 제한적 효과를 극복할 수 있는 새로운 접근방법을 제시한다. 그리 고 공급사슬네트워크 내 특정 조직으로부터 공급자를 평가하기 위하여 다양한 평가항목들로 구성된 실제 사례를 수집하고 이를 본 연구에서 제시한 DEA의 새로운 확장 모형에 적용하고 분석한 후, 그 결과를 기존 DEA의 기본 모형 및 확장 모형들에 의한 분석 결과와 비교함으로써, 공급사슬네트워크에서 조직이 효율성 측면에서 공급자를 평가하고 선택하기 위한 효과적인 방법을 제안한다.

Supplier evaluation, an important element in purchasing decisions, has been gaining more and more attention in the literature. This paper presents a new modified Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), named extended DEA for supplier evaluation and selection. A brief description of importance of supplier selection, various supplier selection methods, and supplier selection criteria is given. DEA is discussed along with its several extensions. The advantages and disadvantages of DEA are discussed and our new approach to eliminate the poor discriminatory power and inability or computational burden of DEA to rank the efficient suppliers is explained. A case study with a set of criteria is tested with the proposed approach and the results are shown to be in agreement with that of the Cross-efficiency Model and Superefficiency Model. The future research issues are proposed.
