The Research of Componential analysis of Chilbo Glaze

This thesis carried out an ingredient analysis of the glaze in Chilbo Craft Work in the purpose of Investigating the flexibility and Firing effect in the work. The scope of this research was the ingredient analysis, the experiment of the Chilbo glaze. The research methods include the chemical ingredient analysis and an elementary analysis using a scanning electron microscope. The ingredients of the glaze, 52 colors of transparent glaze and 15 colors of non-transparent glaze which reach 67 colors in total. The common major elements found both in non-transparent and transparent glazes were Si(Silicon), Cd(Cadmium), Pb(Plumbum), and O(Oxygen). Such elements of C(Carbon), Na(Natrium), K(Kalium), Zr(Zirconium) were found much more in transparent glazes than in non-transparent glaze. The research in this thesis carried out the chemical analysis of the Chilbo glaze's ingredient in order to show the flexibility of the Pb(Plumbum) ingredient in manufacturing and preparation for the craft work. This thesis is expected to be applied to the manufacturing of the Chilbo craft work and to activate the Chilbo craft art work.
