음운인식, 빠른 자동 이름대기, 자모지식, 단기기억, 작동기억과 한글 단어인지 능력 간의 관련성에 관한 연구

The Relationship of Phonological Awareness, Rapid Naming, Letter Knowledge, Short-term Memory, and Working Memory to Hangul Word Recognition Abilities

본 연구에서는 음운인식, 빠른 자동 이름대기, 자모지식(자모이름, 자음소리), 단기기억, 작동기억과 한글 단어인지 능력 간의 관련성에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 6세 아동과 초등학교 1학년 아동(각각 89명, 92명, 총 181명)을 대상으로 음운인식, 빠른 자동 이름대기, 자모지식(자모이름, 자음소리), 단기기억, 작동기억, 단어인지 검사를 실시하였다. 주요 연구 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 6세 아동의 경우에는 자모이름과 음운인식이, 초등학교 1학년 아동의 경우에는 자음소리를 제외한 모든 검사가 단어인지 능력을 유의하게 설명하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 6세 아동의 경우에는 음운인식 만이, 초등학교 1학년 아동의 경우에는 빠른 자동 이름대기와 음운인식 모두 단어인지 능력에 대한 고유한 설명량을 갖는것으로 나타났다. 특히 초등학교 1학년 아동의 경우에는 빠른 자동 이름대기의 설명량이 음운인식의 설명량 보다 큰 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과의 요약, 연구 결과의 제한점 및 향후 연구에 관한 제언이 논의되었다.

The present study examined the relationship of phonological awareness, rapid naming, letter knowledge (consonant․vowel names, consonant sounds), short-term memory, and working memory to Hangul word recognition abilities. To achieve this purpose, tests of phonological awareness, rapid naming, letter knowledge (consonant․vowel names, consonant sounds), short-term memory, working memory, and word recognition were administered to a total of 181 children(89 six-year-old and 92 first-grade children). Major findings of this study were summarized as follows. First, consonant․vowel names and phonological awareness and all of the tests except consonant sounds contributed significantly to word recognition abilities in six-year-old and first-grade children, respectively. Second, phonological awareness and both rapid naming and phonological awareness contributed independently to word recognition abilities in six-year-old and first-grade children, respectively. In particular, the result indicated that rapid naming contributed more than phonological awareness to word recognition abilities in first-grade children. The results, limitations of this study, and directions for future studies were discussed.
