파라다이스-유창성 검사(Paradise-Fluency Assessment: P-FA)에 대한 언어치료전문가들의 견해

A Qualitative Inquiry on the Paradise-Fluency Assessment (P-FA)

배경 및 목적: 본 연구는 파라다이스-유창성 검사(Paradise-Fluency Assessment: P-FA,이하 P-FA)에 대한 언어치료전문가들의 평가와 의견을 분석한 것이다. 방법: 유창성장애 전문가 6인을 선정하여 심층면담을 실시하였고, 전사한 모든 면담내용을 텍스트 문서로 전환한후 Nvivo 2 (2002)를 사용하여 질적 분석을 하였다. 결과: 분석결과는 ‘P-FA를 환영하다’,‘P-FA에게 바란다’, ‘서로 다른 곳을 보다’, ‘P-FA를 넘어 말더듬을 만나다’의 4개 주제로정리되었다. 각 주제의 하위주제들을 살펴보면, ‘P-FA를 환영하다’에서는 시간단축과 편리함,유창성 외 영역의 정보 제공, 깊이 있는 정보 제공, 그리고 표준화검사 환영이, ‘P-FA에게바란다’에서는 채점 및 해석 방법 보완, 과제와 자료의 보완, 전반적 판단과 일치가, ‘서로다른 곳을 보다’에서는 선별검사의 역할 요구, 심화된 검사의 역할 요구, 그리고 과제의 목적에 대한 견해차가, ‘P-FA를 넘어 말더듬을 만나다’에서는 샘플의 대표성 문제, 훈련과 경험의필요성, 무엇이 말더듬인가?, 표준화 검사의 한계, 그리고 핸디캡 파악이 각각의 하위주제로도출되었다. 논의 및 결론: 본 연구의 결과들은 추후 P-FA를 개정하는데 중요한 방향을 제공할 것이며, 사용자들의 요구에 부응하고 더욱 유용한 유창성장애 평가도구를 개발하는 데에도움이 될 것이다.

Background & Objectives: The Paradise-Fluency Assessment (P-FA) is a norm-referenced fluency assessment tool that can be used for both clinical and research purposes in Korea. The purpose of this study was to analyze estimates, suggestions and requests provided by specialized users regarding P-FA. Methods: Interviews were conducted with six speech-language pathologistswho specialize in stuttering. All interviews were audio-taped and transcribed. The transcripts were analyzed by the qualitative method using Nvivo 2 (2002). Results: Four main themes emerged from the qualitative analysis: (1) advantages of P-FA,(2) suggestions about P-FA, (3) disagreement between developers and users of P-FA,and (4) issues of stuttering beyond P-FA. Advantages of and suggestions about P-FA mean users’ satisfaction and dissatisfaction with P-FA, respectively. From disagreement between developers and users, we concluded that P-FA developers’ intentions were not effectively delivered to the users. Issues of stuttering itself were also raised in all interview processes. Discussion & Conclusion: The results of this study should be used to improve and to implement the P-FA as a fluency assessment tool in a more effective manner.
