Study on Formative of Casting Technique - Focusing on sand Casting -

The nature is the root of life and arts of human beings, and it is an ideal object of arts human beings try to express. Human beings discover possibility of expression by adapting various and rich subject materials continuously, and they concretize motive from the nature as formative to recreate for a new expression. Also, they manifest vital force of the nature as a form of arts. As human's life in modern society today is standardized extremely because of uniformity and simplification, recognition that they try to find answer of ideal life in the nature is spreading. Thus, desire on formative structures was tried to express by using the motive as organic form of the nature. Organic express in shape means sourceful expression about the nature of human. As human beings begin to make an object for the first time, they imitate shape of organisms, and even after that, shape of the nature has made good deal of influence. A new formative method is to be found by shaping with understanding and reconstructing vital force mainly on organic shape that is shown in the process of growing and changing of a life. Shape in metallic industrial arts is one of most important things to express an artist's mind concretely. Shape, as an expressing method that intention of an artist can be formed visually, delivers intention and thoughts an artist pursues to others implicitly. Today's metallic industrial arts have complex aspect by various expression methods and disorganization of genres. From a practical tool in a living traditionally, it becomes an art with beauty as well as practical use today, and aesthetic point is acting as an important element with meaning endowment of an artist. Therefore, images of organic shapes, which is the theme of my project, have a research goal to express non-set pattern from natural shape, vital force, non-completeness, and infinite change of shape the nature has as a formative work using casting of metallic industrial arts.
