Colour Changes by Various Cleanser of Persimmon Dyed Fabrics

Persimmon Dyeing showed as reddish brown color as the main element 'Tannin' is oxidized by contacting with air, and has characters of waterproof and prevent putrefaction. Persimmon Dyeing also harden cloth, making cloth more durable. These are reasons why from long times ago people have been wearing Persimmon Dyed clothes as working clothes in JE-JU area where has so hot and damp weather. Persimmon Dyeing has meritof making clothes durable, however choose a suitable detergent is important matter for using Persimmon Dyed cloths. While laundry dyed clothes, metallic and protein element in it could tum into black as reaction with detergent. In this research, we choose which detergent is suitable for Persimmon Dyed clothes by using general fabric, cotton, silk and artificial silk. After dyeing those fabrics, compare those washed by vegetable detergent and those washed by alkaline detergent. Make decision of detergent by measuring differences of color using CCM and analyzing differences of color. Our goal though this experiment is contributing to industry and Persimmon Dyeing user by presenting suitable detergent and the way of washing to maintain the color and quality of Persimmon Dyeing This Experiment covers the merit of persimmon dyeing and the way to maintain and preserving colors of traditional natural dyeing after laundry. Experiment method of persimmon dyeing is so called "SI-YUM", a peculiar dyeing method in JEJU area, using a puckery green persimmon. Some area such as UISEONG, ]INJU, HABIN keep dyeing until get the most natural and mysterious color. On this research, when drying shroud set the time for sunniestperiod from noon to 4 pm, we spray water on fabric and keep repeating the process until get the color we want.
