A Research on Kitchen Furniture and Utensils of Chosun Dynasty

Since old times Kitchen furniture and utensils have been polished and developed for a few hundred years and have had refined forms and excellent functions in the usage. Howe ver, owing to rapid industr ial development and thoughtl ess introducti on to western culture , our traditi onal crafts and culture have been hurt and have made no progress recently. Therefore, by the way of classifying 4 kinds of furniture and 58 kinds of utensil s into deta iled categories such as usage, timber quality, painting skill, assembling technique, and decorative technique, we try to enhance the value of Korean industrial arts. Even though academically , it is important to conserve and reclassify our ancestor 's cultural legacy wood cra ftsman may as well develop our traditi onal industr ial crafts int o being moderni zed, and newly and practically designed ones.
