A Study on Expressing Handcraft Techniques of Materials in Modern Fashion -Centering Around Forming Work Technique-

The current main stream of the 21st Century is in much more crea tive mood than any other times in history and developments for brand-new materials and unique, creative expressions of qualities are what this current stream would try to get as the importance of materials makes a big deal for representing the essence of formative arts. Therefore , materia ls that had never been considered as a clothing industries have been taken for replacement. In this study, I have contemplated to get to know each technique's traits, principes, methods and patterns among those diversified material expressing methods in modern fashion industrie s. And to make a new material which could be used for showing a very original and creative technique would be my own goal throughout this study. There would be seve ral express ing techniqu es for mater ials in modern fashion industrie s thou gh, I ve tried to in ves tigat e the theo retica l back ground s es pec ially on the basi s of polytechnic techniques, such as Beading technique which used spangles, beads for decorating the outside of clothing, Embroidery, Patchwork which are the mosaic of pieces and Weaving and Knitting with strings and braids, Piping using pipes and Felting techniques which made wools constricted . After looking up several references of those techniques that mentioned above, r d manufactured clothings with very original techniques that had not been used ever. The results of this study were as follows: At first, It was certain that expressing techniques for the applied materials in modern fashion industry were very diverse and had many possibilities for many fields . Secondly, expressing techniques with new materials would be a significant role to represent the aesthetic point of each clothing and these techniques have used characteristically in modern fashion trend for qualities in polytechnic expressing techniques. Thirdly, nowadays main trend requires us to develop brand new techniques which had never been used before, and to get a handicraft techniques with human inspirations even though in this civilized societies.
