한.중 전통문양의 비교 연구

A Comparative Study of The Korean Patterns and The Chinese Patterns -With Special Reference to Their Lucky Physiognomy-

The patterns, like language and words , has their own indigenous shape depending upon the circumsta nces in which thei r users have lived . Thus they have peculi ar forms allover the world, a nd so the Orie ntal patterns a nd the Western patt e rns arc di st inctivel y differc nt. However, it ca n be said that they include not only regional aspects but also rel igious aest hetics. In Orie nt, the flo urisi ng of the Confucius Buddhi st culture has created these patter ns by stirring people' s imagi natio n abundant ly. In this respect, it will he significantly meaningful to make a comparative analysis of the patterns of the two neighboring countries, Korea and China, which have had a close relatio nship historically. Therefore, this study aims to investiga te these l WO patt ern s th rou gh th ei r comparat ive ana lysis wit h spec ia l ref eren ce to th e ir lucky physiognomy, As for the patterns showing lucky physiognomy which have been used as a genera lly popular culture, they were sett led as pop ular arts on the basis of Taoism in China while they wer e practically used in the daily life due to the Buddhist arts in Korea. In addition, they symbolize having many sons, living a long life and a wish in China, while in Korea they symbolize a small wish by the unit of family and community. It can be accepted that this represents the basic human desire. It can be finally concluded that these patterns are widely used in food, clothing and housing today, but that they can be developed better when they will be expressed in accordance with modern life so that their true meaning can be brought to modern men.
