This study, following the previous studies (l) - (9) on Korean tr aditional paper flowers which have been presented since 1981, was conducted to examine the paper flower-making craftsman Yoon j ong - gyu(Priest Haewol):s technique of making paper flower s which are used as one of ritual object s for Yeongsanjaet Buddhist ceremony) that was designated as the Important Intangible Cultura l Property No. 50. Research meth ods included acquiring paper flower-making techniques through per sonal participating in the process of making paper flowers, and photographing and reco rding the process. Data were collected from such activities and present ed with figures and pictu res. Yoon ]ong - gyu has been in charg e of making paper flower s for Yeongsanjae which has been held in the Daegu area from the first in 1992 till the 10th in 2003, and handling solemn Buddhi st objects for his temple. He learned the paper flower-making technique from the late priest Hwang Wol- hwa. Currently, he makes six kinds of paper flower s irniscellaneous flowers, hydr angea flower, lotus flower, peony flower , rose and chrysa nthemum flower ). His techn ique is characterized by round, smart sty le of flowers and beautiful arrangement of flower s in eight colors.
