A Study on Design of Umbrellas Using the Lotus Pattern.

Due to the increase of the standard of living. the idea of consumption is changing day by day. Umbre llas have made progress from being living necessit ies to one of being accesso ries. Regarding the domestic umbrell a market of 150 million, umbrellas have a close rel ation to the general daily global market. Rath er than having a unique de velopment and being only circulated in the domestic market. the quality and des ign of the domestic umbrell a has imitated those of the foreign umbrella. The aim of the study is to recreate the lotus pattern. one of the traditional patterns or Korea. and to show the possibility of the umhrella as a highly valued product for expanding a Korean style. This paper shows that the lotus flower has been a kind of heritage pattern made into a modern sty le which has improved shows image and self-worth. Thi s study analyzes the materi al, the process of production and shows images of how to manu facture this traditional pattern of Korea into modern styles.
