Making of Manufacturing Techniques of Traditional Zitae Lacquer wares

The art of Korean lacquering has a history of thousands of years. The objects made by ancient Korean maste rs demonstrat e their advanced skills and craftsmanship. However, there are few record s remaining th at describ e how and by whom they were made. Conseq ue ntly, the techniqu e of lacqu er ing has been lost. It is necessary to rediscover the forgotten process in order to make authentic Korean products that can be commercialized. In this study, we are aiming to redi scov er. mode rnize and s tandardize techniques used by ancient masters. The techniqu es and procedure establi shed in this study wi ll be app lie d to develop new products that are more benefitable and useful for more practical applications.
