청각장애 아동의 언어 지연이 정서 이해 발달에 미치는 영향

The Effects of Language Developmental Delay on the Understanding of Emotion in Hearing Impaired Children

본 연구는 청각장애아동의 언어 지연이 정서 이해 발달에 미치는 영향을 숙고하기 위한 것이었다. 청각장애아동(4 - 6세, 45명)과 건청아동(4, 5세 30명)을 대상으로 바람에 따른 정서 이해과제와 상황에 따른 정서 이해과제를 실시하였으며 이들 과제 수행과 연령 및 언어능력간의 관계를 살폈다. 연구 결과 첫째, 청각장애아동은 바람에 따른 정서 이해와 상황에 따른 정서 이해의 두 과제 모두에서 건청아동에 비해 지연된 수행을 보였으며, 둘째, 청각장애아동의 바람에 따른 정서 이해와 상황에 따른 정서 이해의 두 과제 수행 모두 연령과는 상관관계가 없었으며 언어능력과는 높은 상관관계가 있었다. 이처럼 본 연구 결과 청각장애아동의 정서 이해에 미치는 언어의 영향을 확인할 수 있었다.

The purpose of this study was to examine how the language developmental delay of hearing-impaired children influences on the understanding of emotion that is based on the given situation and on the children’s desires. The subjects were hearing impaired children(45 children aged from 4 to 6) and children with normal hearing(30 children aged from 4 to 5). After picture materials were presented to them, they were asked to identify whether the people in picture materials feel happy or sad on the basis of their desire, and to predict whether the people were happy, sad, afraid or angry in consideration of the given situation. The results of research showed that the performance of hearing impaired children was inferior to that of hearing children for both the desire and situational tasks. Second, the performance of hearing impaired children was related to their linguistic ability. Based on the finding of this study, we attempted to discuss the role of language in the understanding of emotion.
