초등학교 아동들의 우리말 범주 규준 조사

Cathgory Norms of Korean for Elementary School Children

초등학교 아동들의 우리말 범주 규준(본보기 산출빈도와 전형성)을 조사하여 아동의 언어 및 기억연구와 아동용 언어 및 기억검사의 제작에 이용될 수 있는 기초 자료로 활용하도록 한다. 방법: 161명(남자 87명, 여자 74명)의 초등학교 학생들을 대상으로 8개 범주(동물, 과일, 주방용품, 학용품, 옷, 꽃, 채소, 장난감)에 대한 범주별 본보기 산출빈도와 범주 본보기의 전형성 규준을 작성하였다. 결과 및 결론: 본 연구에서 밝혀진 초등학교 아동들의 범주 규준과 대학생들의 범주 규준(이관용, 1991)을 비교한 결과 유의한 차이가 발견되었다. 이 결과는 아동에서 노인에 이르기까지 전체 연령층에 대한 우리말 범주 규준의 연령별 연구가 필요함을 시사한다.

The present study was conducted to provide category norms (exemplar frequency and typicality) of Korean to be used for research and development of language and memory tests for elementary school children. Methods: One hundred sixty-one children (87 boys and 74 girls) were given tests of eight categories: animals, fruits, kitchen utensils, school supplies, clothing, flowers, vegetables, and toys. Production frequency and typicality for each category were evaluated. Results & Conclusion: We found significant differences between this current norms on elementary school children and data reported on university students in the previous study. These results suggest that age-specific Korean category norms are needed.
