영유아기 의미평가도구 MCDI-K의 타당도와 신뢰도에 관한 연구

Validity and Reliability of the Korean Adaptation of MCDI

이 연구는 영유아기 아동의 의미능력을 평가하기 위해 한국에서 사용되고 있는 MCDI-K가 타당하고 신뢰롭게 사용될 수 있는지 살펴본 것이다. MCDI와 MCDI-K의 타당도와 신뢰도에 관한 선행연구들을 검토한 후, MCDI-K의 공인타당성을 살피기 위해 자발적발화에서 나타난 의사소통지표들과의 상관관계를 분석하였고, 유아용과 영유아용으로 발전시킨 MCDI-K에 대해서는 전문가들로부터 내용 및 구성타당성을 평가받았다. 발전된 MCDI-K에 대한 신뢰성은 정상아동 뿐 아니라 장애아동 어머니를 포함한 검사-재검사 상관관계를 통해 분석하였다. 공인타당도 검증을 위해 만 1세인 90명의 아동-어머니쌍이 참여하였고, 재검사신뢰도를 위해 52명의 일반 및 청각장애아동 어머니가 연구에 참여하였다. 연구결과 첫째, MCDI-K 낱말유형수는 아동-어머니간 상호작용에서 나타난 낱말유형수 및 낱말빈도수와 통계적으로 의의있는 상관을 보여 공인타당성을 보여주었다(r=.576과 .790). 이밖에 의사소통 의도표현 유형 및 빈도수와도 의의있는 상관(r=.580과 607)을 나타내어 MCDI-K가 의미 및 의사소통 관련 평가에서 타당하게 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 둘째, MCDI-K에 대해 33명의 정상아동과 19명의 청각장애아동 어머니의 검사-재검사 신뢰도를 살핀 결과 .989의 상관을 보여 MCDI-K가 언어장애아동 선별과정에서 신뢰롭게 사용될 수 있는 것으로 보인다. 앞으로 MCDI- K는 포괄적인 상황에서의 의사소통능력 반영에 대한 부분을 보완하고, 내적일관성 및 항목에 대한 검토를 하는 한편, 표준화과정이 이루어져야 한다.

Caregiver/mother reports have become a valid and reliable assessment method for infants and very young children. The validity and reliability of MCDI(MacArthur Communicative Development Inventories) which consists of parent reports on early lexicon and other communicative/language behaviors have been reported in a number of studies. MCDI was highly correlated with free communicative samples and formal tests. Moreover, MCDI has been adapted to more than 10 languages. The concurrent validity and the test-retest reliability of the Korean adaptation of MCDI(MCDI-K) are examined. Concurrent validity was examined by comparing results from MCDI-K and observed communicative measures. Ninty one-year-old Korean children’s communicative behaviors were compared with their mothers’ reports on MCDI-K. As results, early communicative measures such as the number of different words, the total number of words, the number of different communicative behaviors, and the total number of communicative behaviors were significantly correlated with the number of productive words reported on MCDI-K(r=.576 to r=.790). The test-retest reliability of MCDI-K was also examined. The correlation between the 52 mothers’ first MCDI-K reports and the second reports was .989. These results indicate that the MCDI-K could be used as a valid and reliable instrument to measure young Korean children’s semantic development. MCDI-K, however, needs to be further refined and normed to better diagnose Korean children’s communicative development.
