중도장애아동을 위한 보완·대체 의사소통도구 개발 및 교사 지원에 관한 연구 조사

Needs Assessment of Special Educators Regarding Augmentative and Alternative Communication Device Development

보완·대체 의사소통 교육은 아동의 장애가 점차 중도․중복화 되어가는 한국의 특수교육 현장에서 교육적 요구와 필요가 증가하는 분야이다. 그러나 우리나라는 아직까지 전자의사소통도구를 국내 개발하지 못한 상태로서 수입에 의존하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 앞으로 의사소통교육이 필요한 장애학생을 지원하기 위해 가장 시급한 문제의 하나인 의사소통도구의 개발과 이와 관련된 지원에 관한 교사들의 의견을 조사하였다. 이를 위해 특수학교 교사와 특수학급 교사 252명을 대상으로 보완․대체 의사소통교육의 필요도, 교육에 필요한 의사소통도구 특성에 대한 요구도, 의사소통교육을 위한 교사지원에 대한 요구에 관해 설문조사를 실시하여 분석하였으며, 연구 결과가 장애학생의 보완․대체 의사소통교육을 활성화하기 위한 교수자료 및 도구 개발의 방향 설정에 대해 시사하는 바에 대하여 논의하였다.

Augmentative and alternative communication(AAC) has become a valuable instructional strategy for students with severe disabilities. This study was designed to investigate the current status of AAC intervention in Korean special schools and special educators' needs for AAC device development. Respondents were 272 special educators from various regions and different types of special school. The survey instrument was developed by the researchers based on the literature and feedback from related professionals. Results suggested a) the need for greater AAC intervention for students with severe communication difficulties, b) the need for AAC supports for teachers in terms of knowledge, attitudes, and resources, and c) the strong need for domestic communication device development and production. Educational implications for special educators were discussed.
