보완·대체의사소통도구 개발을 위한 학령기 아동 및 성인의 핵심어휘 조사

School-Aged Children and Adults’s Core Vocabularyfor the Development of an Augmentative andAlternative Communication Tool

최근 심한 표현언어장애아동을 위한 보완대체 의사소통 프로그램에 대한 관심이 매우 높아지고 있다. 본 연구는 보완대체 의사소통 도구 개발의 첫 단계인 어휘데이터베이스를 구축하기 위해 일반인들이 많이 쓰는 어휘를 수집하고 그 중에서 고빈도 어휘 및 핵심어휘를 찾아내는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 학교에서의 쉬는 시간과 일상생활에서 자발적인 발화를 수집하였다. 일상생활과 관련하여 음식점, 쇼핑센터, 미용실, 영화관, 비디오가게, 병원, 은행, 학교, 가정의 9가지 대화상황을 선정하였다. 연구자료는 학령기 아동 24명과 일반인 20명의 학교 및 상황별 발화를 전사하여 총 11,092개의 어휘를 가지고 분석하였다. 결과처리는 낱말의 출현빈도에 근거한 핵심어휘 찾기 및 구조어와 내용어의 비율분석, 그리고 상위 고빈도 어휘가 전체어휘를 대표하는 비율 측정으로 이루어졌다. 연구 결과 아동, 청소년, 그리고 성인의 핵심어휘들 간에는 53%가 공통된 것으로 나타났으며 구조어와 내용어의 비율은 평균적으로 34.8%:65.2%로 나타났다. 또한 상위 고빈도 25개 어휘는 전체어휘의 34%를, 50개의 어휘는 전체어휘의 58%를 차지하는 것으로 나타났다.

Recently the interest in the augmentative and alternative communication program for expressive language disorders is increasing. The purpose of this present research is to collect vocabulary used by common people to build vocabulary data bases, which is the first step for a development of the augmentative and alternative communication tool, and to find the highly frequent vocabulary and the core vocabulary. To do this, we collected spontaneous speech samples in break times of the school and in our daily lives. We selected nine conversation situations related to our daily living places such as restaurants, shopping centers, beauty shops, movie theaters, VCR rental shops, clinic centers, banks, schools, and homes. The analyses were carried out for about 11,092 vocabulary items sampled from 24 school-aged children and 20 adults. The results of the research showed that there is a difference of 53% of common core vocabulary items between school-aged children and adults. The ratio of structure words vs content words was 34.8%:65.2%. Also, the highly frequently occurring first 25 words represented 34%, and the first 50 words represented 58% of the total communication samples.
