고기능 자폐스펙트럼장애 아동의 낱말재인 및 읽기이해 특성

Characteristics of Word Recognition and Reading Comprehension of Korean High-Functioning Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders

본 연구는 고기능 자폐스펙트럼장애 아동의 낱말재인 및 읽기이해 능력을 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 연구대상은 초등학교 저학년 수준의 자폐스펙트럼장애 아동 8명과, 이들과 언어능력을 일치시킨 일반아동 8명이였으며, 연구도구로 배소영(미출판 원고)의 낱말재인검사와 기초학습기능검사의 읽기II 및 윤효진(2004)의 과제를 수정하여 본 연구자들이 제작한 문장이해와 덩이글 이해검사를 사용하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다: (1) 낱말재인에서는 자폐스펙트럼장애 아동이 언어연령을 일치시킨 일반아동에 비해 유의하게 높은 수행 결과를 나타내었으며, 이러한 차이는 자소불일치 낱말 재인에서 비롯되었다; (2) 읽기이해는 자폐스펙트럼장애 아동집단이 일반아동집단에 비해 유의하게 낮은 수행결과를 나타내었으며, 읽기이해 중 덩이글이해에서는 유의한 차이가 나타났으나 문장이해에서는 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다; 그리고 (3) 아동집단과 읽기과제(낱말재인 및 읽기이해) 간에 유의한 상호작용 효과가 관찰되었다. 즉, 자폐스펙트럼 장애 집단이 낱말재인에서 높은 수행을 보인 반면 이해에서는 일반아동집단이 더 높은 수행을 보였다. 본 연구의 결과는 자폐스펙트럼장애 아동의 읽기 능력에 대한 선행연구와 관련지어 논의하였다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate characteristics of reading of high-functioning children with autism spectrum disorders. Eight children with autism spectrum disorders in school years and eight language- and age-matched normal children participated in this study. Words decoding, sentence comprehension, and text comprehension tasks were used and frequencies of correct responses in the three tasks were measured with the following study results being obtained. First, high-functioning children with autism spectrum disorders performed significantly better than normal children in the words decoding task, significantly worse in the tow comprehension task, especially the text comphrension task. Secondly, a significant interaction effect between the two children groups and the reading tasks(the recognition task and the comprehension task) was observed. Theses results were discussed in relation to the reading abilities of children with autism spectrum disorder.
