읍내리분묘군의 편년을 통해 본 5세기대 순흥지역의 위상

The status of Province, Sunheung (順興)in the 5th century through the chronicles of the tombs in Eumnari

Two ancient frescoes were found in the tombs in Eumnaeri in Sunheung. Because the center of fresco in the period of the Three States was Goguryeo(高句麗), the heroes of these tombs could be men of Goguryeo or men influenced by Goguryeo culture. Moreover, it was posited even that Goguryeo army proceeded far away to the south of Jukryong(竹嶺) in 5th century, stationing themselves in Sunheung in domination. On this paper, I have looked over the ages of the tombs in Eumnaeri not completely reviewed in the academic circles till now. As a result, I found that it is necessary to doubt the view that Goguryeo army overtook Jukryong and dominated the province of Sunheung in the 5th century. The critical evidence is metal crafty arts including gold earrings made in Gyeongju(慶州)that were excavated in the tombs in Eumnaeri around the middle of the 5th century at the latest. It was supposed that Sunheung was made much of by Silla in the 5,6th century in view of the scale of stone tombs or the existence of metal crafty arts distributed in Eumnaeri. It was perhaps because in this province Silla had the frontier together with Goguryeo, and it surely needed the cooperation of the powers of this province for defending its frontier.
