Influence of English class and residence in English speaking countries on sub-component of critical thinking

The purpose of this paper is firstly, to clarify the construct of sub-component of critical thinking. Three components to investigate are motivation to implement complex thinking, pursuit of validation and accuracy and intellectual curiosity. The second purpose is to measure critical thinking ability among Korean learners of English regardless of the subjects’ residence experience in English speaking countries. The result shows there is no difference on English critical thinking regardless of subjects’ residence experience in English speaking countries, whereas subjects show significant difference regarding students enrolled in English class dealing with critical thinking disposition. These findings have implications for instruction and program developments of critical thinking dispositions.
