A Preliminary Review on Proposed New Contents in the 1st Draft of Incoterms 3000

The International Chamber of Commerce(ICC) introduced the first version of Incoterms, short for "International Commercial Terms," in 1936. The Incoterms have been revised six times in order to reflect international trade developments. The latest version is Incoterms 2000, which came into force in 2000. The revised version of Incoterms 2000 should be released in the fall of 2010. Once released, the new Incoterms will take effect on January 1, 2011. The new version of the Incoterms will be known as Incoterms 3000 in order to avoid the expectation that they will be revised every ten years. In this paper, I reviewed the main contents of Incoterms 3000-First Draft of 20 February 2009. This paper contributes to help the parties concerned to understand the new changes under Incoterms 3000.
