대학서열이 임금에 미치는 효과

The effect of University ranking on Earnings: transfer student vs non-transfer student

본 연구에서는 편입 여부에 따라 대학서열이 임금에 미치는 효과가 어떻게 달라지는 가를 분석했다. 사용된 자료는 고용정보원의 「2006 대졸자 직업이동 경로조사」이다. 분석 결과 대학서열이 표준편차로 1단위 상승할 때 전체 표본에서는 10.5%-10.8%, 편입생에서는 6.2%-6.5%, 비편입생들에서는 11.0%-11.2% 임금이 증가하여 대학 서열이 임금에 미치는 효과는 비편입생에게서 컸다. 이러한 결과는 미국의 결과보다 커 대학서열이 임금에 미치는 효과는 한국이 미국보다 큰 것으로 나타났다

This paper examines how the effect of university ranking measured by the score of university entrance examination on earnings varies according to whether one is transfer student or not. We found that while the increase in university ranking by one standard deviation raises the earnings by 6.2%-6.5% at the sample of transfer students, the increase in university ranking by one standard deviation raises the earnings by 11.0%-11.2% at the sample of non-transfer students. Compared to the result of U.S.A, the effect of university rankings on earnings is greater in Korea than in U.S.A
