A Study on Green Port Revitalization According to Air Pollution and Climate Change Regulations

The growing threat on unusual weather caused by recent global climate change has come into worldwide attention. In order to cope with the imminent issue, all countries of the world have come to vibe on that a global scale measure, beyond each and every border, must be accompanied. With such an international stream, the Korean government aims for sustainable Green Growth as policy objectives. The act ‘Basic Act on Low Carbon and Green Growth’, which was enacted for promotion and its pass through the National Assembly, the government has prepared a strong regulatory to control greenhouse gas emissions. The study has identified the actual status of other equipment, loading and unloading, activities pertaining to ships at ports, which are the source of greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, the study analyzed the flow and trends of greenhouse gas emissions at home and abroad through existing documentary records, and is aiming to suggest a constructive direction by contemplating visions and implication in the operation of harbors through studying the green port, which receives attention as greenhouse gas reduction measures.
