The development strategies for the new port of Masan: An empirical study

The objective of this study is to provide the development strategies for the new port of Masan which is now scheduled to open in 2011. It does this by identifying the factors affecting the customer's constraints affecting the use of Masan Port. Factor analysis was used to identify in order to find out the constraints. Six categories of the constraints were revealed by the statistical analysis. Based on the statistical results from the survey on manufacturing companies, a number of strategies were considered to develope the new port of Masan into a regional logistics center and an economic engine of Kungnam area. It is believed that the strategies would take away thresholds in using the new port of Masan, and stimulate the competitiveness of the transport services in Korea.
