볼고그라드 한인 사회와 한국의 지원방안

Korean Community in Volgograd

There are 500,000 koreans in the territory of former Soviet Union. They are the third or fourth generation of the first emigrants to Imperial Russia. They had been moved by force to middle asia during the Stalin era. After the collapse of Soviet Union the situation of koreans in the territory of former Soviet Union had been changed again and they had problems with citizenship, economic conditions and the national language in independent republics. Especially, koreans in Tajikistan had to move again because of the civil war in 1992. Many of them chose Volgograd as the place for residence. So, we were interested in this area and carried the field research about koreans in Volgograd in Aug. 200l. There are three main groups in korean community in Volgograd . 1) "Titular" koreans in Volgograd: the first immigration group to Volgograd at the end of 1950-1960. They are fully adapted to major society of Volgograd. 2) "Necessary immigrants": Refugees from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan after the 1990s. 3) "Gobongil farmers": seasonal farmers from middle asia. In this article those three groups of koreans ' life style. unique structure of agriculture and their problems are described. In the conclusion alternative plans to give a support them are proposed .
