영 교육과정(Null Curriculum) 관점으로 본 2009 개정 교육과정에 의한 예술교육

Art education of “The 2009 revised Korean National Curriculum”: from the viewpoint of null curriculum

본 연구는 2009 개정 교육과정에 의한 예술교육에 관하여 영 교육과정 관점에서 논의하여 보다 나은 예술교육의 방향을 모색해 보고자 하는데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 예술교육에 관한 교육과정 관점으로서 영 교육과정을 살펴보았다. 그리고 한국의 학교교육에 나타난 예술교육정책분석과 비판을 위한 기초로 2009 개정 교육과정의 구조와 특징, 문제점을 검토하였다. 특히 2009 개정 교육과정에 의한 예술교육을 영 교육과정 관점에서 논의하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 예술에 관한 잘못된 개념과 교육개혁 정책 때문에 중․고등학교의 예술 교육은 중․고등학교 교육의 주변에 남게 된다. 한국의 학교 교육이 전적으로 대학입시와 관련하여 이루어짐으로써 예술교과의 주변화는 당연시되어지고 있다. 둘째, 2009 개정 교육과정에 의한 집중이수제와 교과군 통합으로 예술교과가 다른 주요교과와의 차등이 주어질 수 있고 소홀히 다루어질 소지가 크다.

The purpose of this study is to investigate “The 2009 revised Korean National Curriculum” and to suggest better direction of art education. For this, art education has been analyzed from the perspectives of the null curriculum. Especially, art education reflected by “The 2009 revised Korean National Curriculum” has been scrutinized by criticizing and analyzing the properties, structures, and problems of “The 2009 revised Korean National Curriculum”. The result of this study firstly indicated that art education of middle and high schools remains insignificant because most of the school curriculum has served for the purpose of college entrance examination. As a result, art education has been marginalized in Korean educational system. Secondly, there could be more possibility that art education can be treated as less significant than the other main curriculum because of focused course-taking and curriculum integration reflected by “The 2009 revised Korean National Curriculum”.
