A Study of the Healing Function in Korean Shamanismand Folk Dance

This thesis studies the specificity of dance a dance in shamanism, and especially focuses on finding out the function and effect of dance a dance that has the healing function. As korean old religion mind, korean shamanism or a shamanist custom lives and is functioning up to this day. As a folk belief, the overall ceremony formally of a shamanist custom is called exorcism. The healing function of shamanism comes out the form of exorcism, especially a message from the dead delivered by a shaman is analogous to a healing conversation in the mental healing. Generally the healing effect of exorcism is not all positive, exorcism shows the positive healing effect on mental physiological disorder as gastroenteric disorder and emotion disorder as uneasiness. Religion and dance a dance is closely of help to men's mental healing for a long time. The healing element of dance a dance in shamanism swells on disease exorcism, dance a dance in the disease exorcism of shamanism has been used as a instrument to reaching charm. So releases bitterness and grudge. Releasing as such has the meaning of healing and prevention, and this function of dance a dance is of help to directly and indirectly healing diseases.
