A Study on the Vocational Ethics of Professional Agents in Real Estate Industry

CONTENTS (1) RESEARCH OBJECTIVES This research is an examination of vocational ethics of professional agents in real estate industry focusing on the comparison of ethical recognitions between professional agents and the general public. (2) RESEARCH METHOD This research compares and analyzes the difference in recognitions of vocational ethics between professional agents and general public though a survey to determine the extent of vocational ethics that are put into practice among professional agents in real estate industry. (3) RESEARCH FINDINGS First, both appraisers and realtors showed very generous attitude in terms of the self-assessment of vocational ethics from the standpoint of conformity with vocational ethics, while general public showed relatively low level of scores. Second, a considerably significant difference existed in most items(9 out of 10 items) relative to the recognitions of vocational ethics between appraisers and general public, which implies that the general public tend to underestimate their level of conformity with vocational ethics far more than appraisers do. Third, the outcome of independent sample test indicated a statistically clear difference between realtors and general public in many items(11 out of 12 items) like the case involving appraisers. 2. RESULTS A considerable gap exists in ethical recognitions between professional agents(appraisers and realtors) in real estate industry and the general public.
