The contents of this paper can be summarized as follows. First, in post.war Japan, they have tried to understand East Asian History from the standpoint of Japanese History. This attitude distorted the understanding of Korean and Chinese History. Secondly, Japanese historians have maintained that the Japanese society of the 7th and 8the century was general slavery society. This argument also has led to the misunderstanding of Korean and Chinese History. Thirdly, Japanese historians generally have argued that the medieval age in Japan began in Kamakura Bakufu of the 11th century. This understanding have caused the misunderstanding of the beginnings of medieval period in Korean and Chinese History.Fourth, Japanese historians generally have maintained that Tokugawa Bakufu was modern period, but they have thought that the period belongs to feudal society from the standpoint of social formation theory. Fifth, Some Scholars in Japan have argued that the ancient slavery system ended late in the 17th century and medieval period began after that. This argument also caused the misunderstanding that the ancient period in Korea and China continued until the late 17th century. Asabove.mentioned, the misunderstandings of Their own Japanese History from the standpoint of social formation theory and the mechanical misuses to Korean and Chines History have inhibited the correct understanding of Korean and Japanese History. Some Korean scholars from the standpoint of social formation theory, have been deeply influence by Japanese social formation theory historiography and the Korean scholars have caused misunderstandings of the periodizations of Korean History. But in some aspects, the imports of the post.war Japanese historiography have contributed to the theoretical developments in Korean historiography continuously after liberation from Japan in 1945.
