This article aimed to examine the important problems about the different version, the editor, the structure & writing style and the compiling spirit of 『Pungamgyphwa』. Todays the 『Pungamgyphwa』 edition owned by the National Library of Korea is the best one equipped with whole volumes, but there are lots of wrong letters. The edition owned by Kyujanggak contains only the part of chronicles. Another editions of 『Pungamgyphwa』 have been kept as abridgements in several libraries. According to context of version owned by the National Library of Korea and the version owned by Kyujanggak, the editor of two versions is presumed to Yu Kwang-ik. Such as unofficial historical materials producted by the later Chosun dynasty, the 『Pungamgyphwa』 was founded on consciousness equipping with the authentic historical sources. Differently from works producted by another time and author, the 『Pungamgyphwa』 dealt with pre-modern times an object of compilation and much earlier times by supporting as historical records of Dan-gun and Gi-ja than the unofficial historical records of those days focused on the Chosondynasty history. The 『Pungamgyphwa』 contained by considerable spaces historical geography in part of history of the pre-Choson dynasty. In the description of historical geography, Yu Kwang-ik seemed to know Han Bak-gyum's historical arguments and his compiling spirit, but he showed support to Im Sang-Duk's historical argument of 『Dongsahoikang』. He was used to collect lots of the related facts from works of scholars who belonged to various political sects such as 『Dongsabyunjeung』, 『Misugieun』, 『Jibongyuseul』, 『Somunsoelok』 and the collection of Yu Hyung-won's letters to Park Ja-jin. The 『Pungamgyphwa』 was compiled to refer what they had wanted to understand the important political issues during various ages, because there were no books to offer those backgrounds and causes. According to analysis of 『Pungamgyphwa』, it consists of the chronicles part and typical episode part. The chronicles part was presented chronically the related each title for each king, and typical episode part was classified historical materials by special issues under title. Although the 『Pungamgyphwa』 had not been written based on investigation by the editor himself, it had been appraised as the type of Gisabonmalche, that is a method of historical record equipped with causes and effects of events. According to contents of chronicles, it was divided mainly the part of kings' virtues of successive generations and kings' words and deeds into the part of revolts and the important political events which had happened in court of dynasty. Widely in others ways, it included contents about faithful persons called by Jeuluipa or Sarimpa who had kept persistently their loyalty to king. The object of description was men of noble who were called Sadaebu and subjects who were resigned to death by speaking straight recommendation to kings and kept in fidelity to king in spite of difficult situation. The editor highly respected official subjects' virtues. In the part dealt with virtue of each king in Gimun, the editor emphasized kings' virtues and personalities and described episodes which any king gave benefits under each title. In case of Yeonsangoon and Gwanghaegoon, they were described by lacking in virtues and were differentiated from another titles. In the part of typical episode composed of poetry and paintings, it included to collect encyclopedical facts from virtuous conducts and ethics to the excellent literatures. As a result of this examination, the 『Pungamgyphwa』 can be appraised that it was compiled on the basis on confucian moralism applied moral stands such as loyalty, fidelity and straight recommendations to king on decision of themes and title.
