When we carry out missionary activities we cannot but think of our global community where various conflicts and clashes keep occurring, In particular, there are so many disputes and quarrels among various religions, In this situation, it is timely to probe the issue of dialogue among religions, However, when we think of this issue, we also consider the side effects that the dialogue can bring about, Bosch says, "It is true that Christianity has-belatedly-rediscovered its integrally dialogical nature: this rediscovery should, however, not be at the expense of its fundamentally missionary nature," It means that dialogue should not be the activity giving harmful effect on mission though it is necessary in today's situation, So this article tries to look for the way of dialogue maximizing the strengths of dialogue ani minimizing the harmful effects of it, For this purpose, this article firstly investigated the background of dialogue, Then it inquires into the theological reasons why dialogue is needed, The theologians insisting the necessity of dialogue say the following reasons, Since the God of the trinity is working even among other religions, we can learn truths from them also, Also through dialogue we can observe ourselves and gain the way to revise faults of ourselves, In addition to these, the dialogue is essential for constructing a peaceful global humanity, In spite of all these reasons for dialogue, we still need to investigate whether dialogue includes some harmful elements for mission or not, So this article evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of the dialogue, Indeed dialogue IS surely helpful for clearing up conflicts among religions to a certain point. Also it would be helpful for giving good impression of Christianity to the society, However, we reed to remember that the activity can diminish the affirmation of the Christian truth, ani it can be connected to the religious pluralism. Furthermore, through dialogue it seems the Christianity looses a crucial element, the conviction about salvation through Jesus Christ, while it earns only some things, 1 also doubt whether dialogue is really possible so that we can achieve what we planned, After the evaluation on dialogue, this article suggests a desirable direction of dialogue to take full advantage of its strengths and reduce the weaknesses, Dialogue reeds to be carried out for global common good and for providing good images of Christianity, These kinds of works can be done in the level of WCC, NCC or denominations, In the local church level, the pastors can carry out an education for preventing unnecessary conflicts among the religions and nurturing peaceful witnesses, The peaceful witnesses are the Christians who do dialogue for the purpose of making relationship, building up trusts, and carrying our witnesses to the people of other faiths, For more detailed directions of dialogue we may need to keep developing the ways fitting to our situation,
