Understanding of Korean History of Marxist Historians just after Liberation from Japanese Rule

This dissertation has been aimed to study on the understanding of Korean history of Chun Suk Dam, Park Keuk Chae, Lee Ki soo and Kim Han Joo, the mainstreamers of Marxist historians just after liberation of Korea. It has been the fact that the recent study has been limited to Baek Nam Woon, an anti－mainstreamers, while the study on mainstreamers historians has been partial and fragmental, so this study has the aim of generally grasping the understanding of mainstreamers Marxist historians on Korean history from primitive communist society to the days of Japanese colonial rule. The methods of analysis of this study has been by quoting the important part of their description by trying to escape from willful interpretation at maximum. And what has been emphasized was their attitude in understanding Korean history rather than disputing on the contents of descriptions they made. The followings are the general summary of this study ; In 2 chapter there described the aim of studying Korean history by complying with the understanding on the realities just after liberation. Their purpose of study on Korean history was to get the practical subject for social revolution by understanding it as a step to revolution. In 3 chapter this study explains on how they described and understood the stage of development of Korean history from primitive communist society to Japanese rule. They described that Korea's feudal society had been formed early without passing through slavery society in primitive communist society based on national community. In 4 chapter this study described about how they understood the cause of the stagnancy of Korean history and also whether there were any differences or common features between their stagnancy and the historians in government circles. Since this study had the limitation in analyzing the stagnancy as the objects of analysis have been limited to the periods form just after liberation to their going to North, it failed to describe on the stage of the change of understanding Korean history of mainstreamers Marxist historians. Therefore in the future we should study on their research activities in the days under Japanese rule, just after liberation and analyzing such their research activities.
