Minjein's life and Historical Consciousness

Minjein lived his life when there were several massacres of scholars in a row. He had consecutively filled some important government posts outside the capital, causing great influence to the change of the political situation. Since he influenced some in the political situation and reorganization of political power. we can understand the political elites' trend of the times from him. The reason why this article focused on understanding the social background of Yoheung-Minclan(여흥 민씨) is that there were many figures who had been historiographers in the family. The fact that they produced many historiographers is thought that the social background of the family is related to Sarims which showed up after Seongjong and expressed their reformative propensity. They were also related to Hungus, installing vassals of merit and the queen after the establishment of the country. What Minjein sought when he worked for the government was identical to that of Sarim and that became the reason why Sarim praised him. This made him understand the history of the past clearly and solve the problems of the times through that history. It was the same historical view as that of Sarim. It is hard to find what Minjein's historical consciousness was since the book ‘Donggooksaryak’ he wrote doesn't exist. However, the book ‘Dongmongseonseup’ which has been thought to be his book tells us about the history of China and Korea at the end. We can find some of his historical consciousness from the book. It was moral and ethical, and it focused on China. He had the same historical view as Sarim of the middle of Chosun dynasty.
