The article discusses a wholistic mission strategy for the Vietnam Socialist country, based on two points of the context and the mutual respect which are emphasized in the mission research. Missionary works are practised on the grounds of understanding the particular context and of respecting the political regime and culture even including a socialist country. First, the article analyzes three aspects to give us insights to understand Vietnam Socialist people: the historical and political context, the Roman Catholic mission under the French colonialism and the religious syncretic diversity of Vietnamese people. Second, the article deals with the mission activities of the Protestantism in Vietnam: missionary works by the evangelical wing(C&MA) since 1911, the WCC ecumenical service mission since 1954 and the 2004 religious regulation and policy of the Vietnam regime. The Socialist Vietnam government allows the people to enjoy the religious freedom but does not allow to violate the religious freedom of others. It means the government limits mission activities to others. Third, the article discusses the mission strategy for the Vietnam Socialist people. In order to practice mission strategies the missionary churches in Korea are presupposed to understand the mission context of Vietnam, a wholistic mission strategy, and the diverse approaches of mission. 1) The CMA Church in Vietnam should be assisted to evangelize the Vietnamese people spiritually and financially. 2) The NGO missions in Vietnam are very helpful to serve the CMA Church and the people under rule of the Socialist government. 3) The Korean Christian residents in Vietnam are necessary to be mobilized for mission in their own works. 4) Theological education for church leadership is urgently emphasized to live biblical teachings of Jesus Christ and to establish the three-self churches in Vietnam.
